Today’s traffic: Congestion slows I-85

The traffic trouble spot at 10:15 a.m. Monday is Interstate 85 in north Charlotte.

Congestion continues to slow traffic, especially between Sugar Creek Road and Harris Boulevard. There are no reports of collisions or other lane blockages at this time, but the traffic volume remains rather heavy.

Otherwise, there is a scattering of wrecks and disabled vehicles across the area. Here is the 10:15 a.m. update:

Center City

6th Street at Caldwell Street ... Collision; minor delays.

North

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).

I-85 northbound and southbound, north Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph between Sugar Creek Road and Harris Boulevard.

Southeast

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 25-35 mph from Providence Road to I-77.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-40 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.

South Wendover Road at Sharon Road ... Earlier collision being cleared; minor delays.

South

South Tryon Street at Yorkdale Drive ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.

Arrowood Drive at England Street ... Collision with injuries; moderate delays.

West

Billy Graham Parkway ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph between West Boulevard and I-85.
