A midday wreck Wednesday blocked all southbound lanes on Interstate 85 in Gaston County.
The lanes were closed for hours between mile markers 22 and 23 near McAdenville after a tractor-trailer collided with a recreational vehicle being pulled by a pickup truck. A man, woman and child were traveling in the truck in the southbound lane and were uninjured.
Photos from the scene showed the family sitting under a nearby overpass with their dog.
Authorities spent a long time pulling the driver out of the tractor-trailer rig and stabilizing him. The driver was taken to the hospital. Mark Hames
