Gaston, Mecklenburg and Iredell counties under severe thunderstorm warning

Northeast Gaston and central Mecklenburg Counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 8:15 p.m., and parts of Iredell County until 8:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The storm could produce quarter-sized hail and damaging winds of 60 mph or more, according to radar.
At 7:46 p.m., the storm was located near Troutman and moving east at 10 mph, forecasters said.
Troutman and Mooresville, Mount Holly, Mountain Island Lake, Paw Creek, the Northlake mall area, Interstate 85 at Freedom Drive, Huntersville, Interstate77 at I-85, Center City Charlotte, Hidden Valley and The Plaza, UNC Charlotte and Eastland Mall are the areas most likely to be affected, officials said.
