A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a wreck at the intersection of Providence and Wendover Roads in south Charlotte, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
The wreck occurred just after 10:30 a.m. The driver of a BMW X5 turned left from Wendover Road against a flashing yellow arrow onto Providence Road and pulled in front of a 2010 Harley Davidson, driven by James Junior Johnson, 53, police said.
The SUV struck the motorcycle in the intersection and Johnson was thrown into the outbound lanes of Providence Road, officials said.
Johnson died at the scene and police charged the SUV driver, Susan Kyle Brown, 50, with misdemeanor death by vehicle, according to CMPD.
CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit said speed and alcohol use were not factors in the collision.
