Wreck knocks out power uptown

A car wreck on McDowell Street knocked out power to 1,900 uptown customers on Wednesday, Duke Energy spokesman Randy Wheeless said.

A car wreck on McDowell Street knocked out power to 1,900 uptown customers on Wednesday, Duke Energy spokesman Randy Wheeless said.

More than 1,300 customers were still without power at 5 p.m., when service had been expected to be restored.

Scattered outages were reported from McDowell to Alexander and Caldwell streets. Joe Marusak
