Bus, train tickets increase Tuesday

The cost of bus and train tickets on the Charlotte Area Transit System increases Tuesday. A one-way bus fare and Lynx Blue Line ticket will be $2.20, up from $2. Express buses inside Mecklenburg County will increase to $3 from $2.75. Express buses that go outside Mecklenburg will increase to $4.40 from $4. The cost of monthly passes also is increasing. CATS is raising fares due to tight budgets. The hike is expected to generate $2.77 million. The transit system has a total annual income of $149.3 million. Steve Harrison
