Here is the latest on Hurricane Arthur, including shelters that have opened in eastern North Carolina.

Southside High School, 5700 North Carolina 73, Chocowinity.

Carteret County

Newport Middle School, 500 East Chatham Street, Newport (pet-friendly).

Leon Mann Center, 3820 Galantis Drive, Morehead City.

Craven County

Ben Quinn Elementary School, 4275 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Brinson Elementary School, 319 Neuse Forest Avenue, New Bern.

Havelock High School, 101 Webb Blvd., Havelock.

Vanceboro Farm Elementary School, 2000 Farm Life Road.

Dare County

Dare Government Center, 950 Marshall Collins Drive, Manteo.

First Flight High School, 109 Veterans Drive, Kill Devil Hills.

Onslow County

Dixon Middle School, 2009 Dixon School Road.

Closings, Postponements

Alligator River/Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge: Closed.

Avon: Avon Fishing Pier fireworks postponed from Friday to Monday, July 7.

Atlantic Beach: Fireworks postponed from Friday to Saturday.

Carolina Beach: Freeman Park closed. Carolina Beach State Park closed. Fireworks postponed until Saturday.

Dare County: Water service north of the Mac Midgett Water Plant in Rodanthe might suffer temporary outages during periods of ocean overwash.

All trash pickup Friday is postponed to Saturday, in areas where roads are passable.

Duck: Trash pickup cancelled Thursday and Friday. Fourth of July Parade is cancelled.

Ferry service: Ferry routes between Ocracoke Island and both Swan Quarter and Cedar Island suspended. Also, service between Ocracoke Island and Hatteras Island suspended.

Fort Fisher State Recreation Area: Closed.

Hammocks Beach State Park: Park is closed, and ferry service to Bear Island is suspended. No camping permitted.

Hatteras Island: Mandatory evacuation. This affects the villages of Buxton, Hatteras Village, Avon, Rodanthe and Waves.

Kill Devil Hills: Fireworks display postponed from Friday to Saturday.

Manteo: Fourth of July activities postponed from Friday to Sunday.

Nags Head: Fireworks postponed from Friday to Saturday. No trash pickup Friday.

National Park Service – Outer Banks: All campgrounds at Ocracoke, Frisco, Cape Point and Oregon Inlet are closed.

Ocracoke and Hatteras Island visitors centers closed.

Bodie Island Visitors Center, Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site closed Thursday and Friday.

Lifeguard operations at Ocracoke, Buxton and Coquina not operating.

Cape Hatteras and Bodie Island lighthouses closed and all park special programs canceled.

New Hanover County: Government offices closing at 2 p.m. Thursday; parks closed.

Ocean Isle Beach: Parade at 9:30 a.m. Friday still scheduled.

Ocracoke Island: Fireworks and other activities postponed from Friday to Saturday. Voluntary evacuations under way.

Sunset Beach: Bike parade at the old bridge still scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Surf City: Fireworks display postponed from Thursday to Aug. 29.

Wilmington: Battleship North Carolina closed.
