A Hickory woman whose husband is accused of sexually assaulting a child was arrested Wednesday and charged with operating an unlicensed day care where the assault reportedly took place.

Crisofor Parra Casareal and his wife, Tonya Lynn, live at the house on 16th Avenue NW near Second Street NW where police say the unlicensed day care operated.

Hickory police received a report of a child being sexually assaulted at the home July 9. Casareal was arrested July 11 and charged with indecent liberties with a child and first-degree sexual assault.

Police said a charge against Casareal accusing him of operating an unlicensed day care is pending.

Police said the investigation is in the early stages, and no further details would be released at this time. Investigators ask that anyone who knows of children who may have been taken to the day care should contact the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
