Plane lands safely after pilot reports possible mechanical problems

Charlotte Douglas operations officers completed a sweep of the runway per operating procedures to assist in recovering any debris. The runway was then reopened.

A Delta plane landed safely at Charlotte Douglas International Airport on Friday morning and taxied on its own, after the pilot reported possible mechanical problems with an engine, airport officials said.

The pilot reported the incident at 10:22 a.m. and landed the plane at about 10:35 a.m., officials said.

Airport operations officers completed a sweep of the runway per operating procedures to assist in recovering any debris. The runway was reopened at 11:15 a.m.
