A motorcyclist was killed after colliding with another vehicle at the intersection of Wendover and Marvin Roads just before 7:30 p.m.
More than a dozen Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police vehicles had the intersection cordoned off for several hours as they investigated. The motorcycle operator has yet to be identified.
The driver of the four-door Cadillac sedan involved in the wreck was not injured, Medic personnel said.
Residents from nearby neighborhoods and Wendover Walks Apartments – the main entrance to which was closed during the investigation – gathered on sidewalks and at the 7-Eleven station on the corner.
Many said they heard the collision but didn’t know what happened till they heard sirens and saw the streets closed off.
Eliel Avila said he’s worked maintenance at the apartment complex for nearly three years. During that time, there have been few serious traffic collisions in the intersection, he said.
