Today’s traffic: Congestion slows I-485

Traffic on the inner loop of Interstate 485 is very slow at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday due to congestion.

At last check, average travel speeds on I-485 were about 10 to 15 mph between Providence Road and N.C. 51 in Pineville.

Otherwise, there are a few collisions and disabled vehicles causing problems at this time. A collision is reported on inbound East Independence Boulevard near the Brookshire Freeway-John Belk Freeway split, with moderate delays reported.

Here is the 8:20 a.m. update:

Center City

East Fourth Street at McDowell Street ... Collision; minor delays.

North

I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from Brawley School Road (Exit 35) down to Gilead Road (Exit 23).

East

Albemarle Road inbound ... Congestion and a disabled vehicle at Sharon Amity Road; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Lawyers Road to Sharon Amity Road.

Southeast

I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 10-15 mph between Providence Road and N.C. 51.

Independence Boulevard inbound ... Congestion and a collision near the Belk-Brookshire freeway split; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Eastway Drive to uptown.

Johnston Road ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph northbound from the state line to I-485.

South

Archdale Drive at Park Royal Avenue ... Collision; minor delays.
