Monroe’s new city manager is expected to start work by Oct. 10, city spokesman Pete Hovanec said Thursday.
Larry Faison will be the city’s fifth manager since late 2000; his selection by city council was announced in early July. He will earn $145,000 a year, according to the terms of his employment contract.
Faison replaces John D’Agostino, who was dismissed by a divided city council in early December, a little less than four months after taking the job.
Faison is the city manager in Whiteville. He may start sooner in Monroe, depending on whether Whiteville finds a replacement for him before October, Hovanec said.
