Shortly after 7 a.m., police reopened Morehead Road near N.C. 49 in Harrisburg after a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck early Wednesday.
The wreck happened about 5 a.m. Details aren’t yet available.
At 8:45 a.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were at a wreck with injuries at Interstate 85 southbound and Graham Street (Exit 40). I-85’s right two lanes are blocked, and it could take until mid-morning to clear the scene, the state Department of Transportation reported.
On I-77 earlier, a wreck blocked the left southbound lane between LaSalle Street (Exit 12) and Brookshire Freeway (Exit 11) shortly after 7:30 a.m.

And a stalled vehicle blocked the center lane of I-485 Inner Loop near Oakdale Road (Exit 18).
In other Charlotte area road news:
• All lanes of northbound and southbound Remount Road from block 2020 to block 2501 will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and drivers should expect delays, the Charlotte Department of Transportation announced.
The lanes will remain closed for about five weeks so crews can install a 72-inch storm drain.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will have access at all times.
The closure is associated with Phase 1 of the Brentwood Place Storm Drainage Improvement Project.
Signed detours will be posted using West Boulevard, Old Steele Creek Road and Wilkinson Boulevard, as well as I-77 South to Exit 9A West Boulevard and I-77 North to Exit 9C Wilkinson Boulevard.
Local access will be maintained, and CATS will remain unaffected.
• The ramp at mile marker 51 on I-77 North in Statesville will close at 8 p.m. Wednesday for overnight construction.
• Beginning Friday, the intersection of South Boulevard and Freeland Lane will close for light rail crossing repairs, the Charlotte Department of Transportation announced.
Work will occur in two phases.
Phase 1 begins at 11 a.m. Friday, when crews will close the 3800 and 3900 blocks of outbound/southbound South Boulevard between Whitton Street and Scaleybark Road and the 100 block of Freeland Lane between South Boulevard and Dewitt Lane.
Northbound/inbound South Boulevard traffic won’t be impacted.
The South Boulevard legs of the intersection are expected to reopen by 4 a.m. Monday.
Traffic can detour around the intersection closure via Clanton Road, South Tryon Street and Woodlawn Road.
In Phase 2, the 100 block of Freeland Lane between South Boulevard and Dewitt Lane will remain closed while related storm drain repairs are completed.
Freeland Lane is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. Aug. 15. A separate detour won’t be signed for the closure.
Local access to businesses will be maintained.
CATS bus and rail service will be affected. Riders should look for updated schedules at regular CATS stops and on the CATS website, http://bit.ly/XBQs1o.
• Arrowood Road between Forest Point Boulevard and Windsong Drive will be reduced to one westbound lane and one eastbound lane beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday through Sept. 5 for construction of the Arrowood 24-inch water main replacement.
The project continues the construction work as it moves south and east along Arrowood.
Work that partially closed the intersection at Arrowood Road and Forest Point Boulevard will be completed by 9 a.m. Wednesday, a week earlier than projected.
