More than 100 people gathered at Garinger High School Friday afternoon for the dedication of a memorial to former students who died in the Vietnam War.

The ceremony was standing-room only, with dozens of Garinger alumni and friends and family of the fallen soldiers present. The 82nd Airborne Division’s band traveled from Fort Bragg to play at the ceremony.

Stories were told about each of the 15 men identified on the monument, with family members sharing memories of the soldiers more than 45 years after they died. Emma Baccellieri
