Northbound Interstate 77 is the big trouble spot for motorists this Wednesday morning, with one current wreck and two earlier collisions causing slow traffic from South Carolina all the way to Charlotte’s uptown area.
A wreck near Carowinds Boulevard has really slowed traffic in northern York County.
Motorists will find improved conditions north of the Carowinds Boulevard wreck, but then they’ll encounter slowdowns from Tyvola Road to uptown. That is the result of earlier collisions in those areas.
Congestion is the problem on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in south Mecklenburg and on southbound Interstate 77 in the Huntersville-Cornelius area.
Meanwhile, motorists are reminded that even though Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students don’t start classes until Monday, there are school buses rolling on area streets this week. The CMS drivers are conducting practice runs to prepare them for the start of school next week.
In addition, the Mecklenburg Area Catholic Schools start classes today, joining several private schools that started last week and earlier this week. And, of course, several CMS schools with lengthened schedules are already holding classes.
