Saturday will be a free day for visitors to the Carolinas Aviation Museum at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

Museum director Wally Coppinger said the museum, at 4672 First Flight Drive next to the N.C. Air National Guard base and the home to the “Miracle on the Hudson” jetliner, will host a community day back-to-school celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free admission.

There will be activities for children and a passenger from Flight 1549 will talk to visitors about the 2009 crash in the Hudson River. MARK WASHBURN
