A portion of Monroe Road in southeast Charlotte was closed at midday Monday due to a wreck and a fuel spill, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police closed the 9000 block of Monroe Road after a multivehicle collision was reported there shortly after 10 a.m. Injuries were reported from the wreck.
Police said the road would be closed for several hours between Covedale Drive and Timber Springs Drive while a crew cleaned the fuel spill. This is near McAlpine Greenway Park and a short distance west of Sardis Road North.
Authorities hoped to complete the cleanup before dismissal of school from Greenway Park Elementary School, just west of Timber Ridge Drive.
Medic said two people involved in the wreck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
