A driver is facing charges after a pickup flipped in Huntersville, injuring several high school students who were riding in the bed of the truck.

The crash happened along the 12100 block of Verhoeff Drive around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

WBTV has learned that the truck overturned and three people were injured, one with serious injuries. The other two were treated for cuts and scrapes.

Troopers say they were riding in the back of the truck when it flipped.

Officials from Lake Norman Charter say the wreck happened near campus and involved seven students.

"The students are receiving care for what appears to be minor injuries," officials said. "Please join us in keeping those involved in your thoughts."

The student who was transported to the hospital has been released.

Officials say the driver of the pickup truck will be arrested for driving on a revoked license.
