A 20-year-old man was killed and another man injured early Saturday in a single-vehicle wreck in Huntersville.
Huntersville police identified the victim as Caleb William Reid, a passenger in the car which crashed about 2 a.m. in the 10400 block of McCoy Road, between Hambright and Beatties Ford roads. The driver, identified as Evan Matthew Purtill, 22, was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries described as “non life-threatening.”
A spokesman for the Huntersville Fire Department said first responders found Purtill outside the vehicle. Reid was found inside the vehicle, authorities said.
Police said an investigation into the wreck is in its early stages, but they said it appears as if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
