Climber seriously injured after fall at Crowders Mountain

One person was seriously injured Monday afternoon after falling at Crowders Mountain State Park.
The Gastonia Fire Department received a report about a rock climber who had fallen around 12:53 p.m. at Crowders Mountain, 500 Park Office Lane in Gaston County.
Upon arrival, rescue personnel ascended the mountain and found the climber at the practice wall of the facility. The person, whose gender and name were not released, was injured in the fall of about 15 to 20 feet.
Gastonia Fire Department members carried the climber more than 300 yards over mountain terrain to bring the patient down the mountain.
The patient was taken to Caromont Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
No other injuries were reported by the roughly 20 personnel who worked the scene.
