A public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the planned renovations to the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
The meeting will be at the Grady Cole Center, 310 N. Kings Drive.
The aquatic center, on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near McDowell Street, was built in 1991 and is operated by Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation. The county is planning a number of renovations, including the pool and locker rooms, at a cost of $8.6 million. Funding will come from a park bond referendum passed by voters in 2008.
According to plans, the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center will close next June 1 and remain closed about a year during the renovations.
LS3P Associates, which is planning the renovations, also will have staff members at the meeting.
