Lane and ramp closures are scheduled late Monday and early Tuesday on Interstate 485 in southern Mecklenburg County, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.
The DOT is shifting traffic on the inner loop of I-485 between Rea and Johnston roads from midnight to 6 a.m. Traffic will move to the new inside lanes so crews can continue paving operations.
Intermittent lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. Monday to prepare for the lane switch at midnight. In addition, the entrance ramps and loop ramps from Johnston Road and Rea Road to the I-485 inner loop will be closed from midnight to 6 a.m.
The work is part of the $83.3 million I-485 widening project, which is adding one lane on each side of I-485 between I-77 and Rea Road.
