The Charlotte area’s interstate highways are clear of collisions and other lane blockages at 9:05 a.m. Friday, and congestion is surprisingly not a major problem.
But there are a number of troubles on secondary roads in the region.
The biggest problem is on Monroe Road, just east of Wendover Road. A collision that involved a trapped motorist forced police to close both the inbound and outbound lanes at times. The wreck damaged a water hydrant, and utilities crews have been called to make repairs.
Motorists can expect delays in the area until at least 10 a.m.
Never miss a local story.
Meanwhile, motorists in Charlotte’s uptown will have to deal with a pair of street closures this weekend, due to the 12th annual Q-City Charlotte Barbecue Championship scheduled from Friday through Sunday.
