Eight people were injured Sunday night in a multivehicle crash that closed southbound Interstate 77 for more than 90 minutes, authorities said.
The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. on I-77 near the Tyvola Road exit, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol. Four vehicles were involved, according to troopers.
Medic sent several vehicles to the scene, and troopers closed the southbound lanes, diverting traffic onto nearby south Charlotte streets. Medic reported taking eight victims to Carolinas Medical Center and said all eight had injuries that were not life-threatening.
The road was reopened about 12:15 a.m. Troopers are still investigating.
