An earlier collision on southbound Interstate 85 near Statesville Road continues to cause big problems for motorists at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday.
The wreck has clogged traffic for several miles beyond W.T. Harris Boulevard. The N.C. Department of Transportation said it could be 11 a.m. before traffic is moving smoothly in the area again.
A number of other collisions are being reported at this time, but earlier congestion-related slowdowns on Independence Boulevard, I-485 and I-77 have eased.

U.S. 74, between Rocky River Road and I-485 ... Congestion through Indian Trail and Stallings; traffic moving 20-30 mph in that area.
