Heat stress killed the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department candidate who collapsed during a July training exercise, reported WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
Jeremy Moseley, 29, died from hyperthermia on July 5. He had a temperature of 105.9 about two hours after falling.
He and other candidates were taking part on the state-mandated training at 8:30 a.m. at the police training academy on Shopton Road.
WBTV reported that Moseley was taking weight loss supplements and a history of asthma.
CMPD training staff and Charlotte Fire Department personnel immediately began to deliver aid, and called Medic. Moseley was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
