The 2010 Greater Lake Norman Community Business Award recognizes small businesses that overcome adversity to achieve success and want to share their stories as models for other entrepreneurs.
The award is sponsored by Aquesta Bank and Aquesta Insurance Services and supported by the Lake Norman, Mooresville-South Iredell, Lincolnton-Lincoln County and Catawba County chambers of commerce and the Denver Area Business Association.
The deadline to apply for or to nominate a business is Jan. 15. The business must have been under the same ownership for at least two years and must have between three and 400 employees.
Winners will be honored at a luncheon Feb. 25 at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville, featuring Andy Bricker, one of the founders of Race to Walk.
Never miss a local story.
Race to Walk was begun after Bricker's wife, Dawn, was injured in a boating accident and required the use of a wheelchair. According to its Web site, the program's "goal is to assist each client towards attaining their own personal goals ... to maximize physical health and well-being in a quest for ultimate functional outcome and an improved quality of life."
