Senior Games: Entry packets are available for the annual Cabarrus County Senior Games, a health and wellness program that encourages ages 55 and older to stay involved in sports and arts. The program will include sports ranging from horseshoes, shuffleboard and badminton to swimming, golf and bowling. The SilverArts events include literary, visual and the performing arts, as well as a cheerleading competition.
Opening ceremonies will be 9 a.m. March 11 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. Events will run weekly until the closing ceremony May 15.
Packets can be picked up at the Cabarrus County Senior Centers in Mount Pleasant and Concord, all LunchPlus Club locations, City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department, Town of Harrisburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Cabarrus County Parks Department. Details: 704-920-3484.

Loose leaf collection ends: Concord's loose leaf collection ended the last week of January.
Loose leaves should now be bagged before placed at the curb to avoid violating city code. Residents should use clear plastic bags or biodegradable paper bags. Black or any nonclear plastic bags will not be collected.
Harrisburg
Land Use Plan: A two-day planning session to discuss the next phase of the Harrisburg Land Use Plan will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 16 and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 17 at Harrisburg Town Hall.
Cabarrus County is creating a new land use plan for the Harrisburg area to guide community leaders and Cabarrus County Schools as they consider new development and school construction in the area. Design experts will discuss options for uses such as utilities, schools, parks and open space.
A drop-in session will be held 4:30-6 p.m. Feb.16 to allow citizens to review plans and offer feedback. A community meeting will be held 7-9 p.m. March 3 at Harrisburg Elementary School to show the progress made.
