The Cornelius Police Department and Proshred Securities, with the N.C. Attorney General's Office, are offering Shred-athon, a chance to shred your old important documents for free.
It's part of a program to build partnership with the police and the community through education.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 20, go to the Cornelius Town Hall with your obsolete tax documents, bank statements or canceled checks, credit card or financial statements, or any other paper documents you need destroyed safely. You don't even need to remove clips, staples or binders.
In case of bad weather, the event will move to March 27.

Sun-style Tai Chi
There is still room left in the Sun-style Tai Chi class. This particular style of Tai Chi uses steps and flowing movements to improve fitness and health.
The class meets 9:30-10:30 a.m. Mondays through March 8 in the Community Room at the Town Hall. For more information, call 704-765-1450.
Spring softball clinic
Softball players ages 7 to 17 can attend a one-day clinic, hosted by AAA Swing, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 at Torrence Chapel Park. Players will be grouped by experience.
There will be special clinics for pitchers, catchers, infielders and outfielders, for hitting and bunting, and base running
A coaches' clinic is on the same day at the same place, from 10 a.m. to noon.
You must register by Feb. 18, either in person at the Cornelius Town Hall or online. Costs for players are $35 for town residents and $40 for others. Costs for coaches are $20 for residents and $25 for others. Participants need to bring their own lunch, snacks and drinks.

Badminton times change
Adults may now drop in from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays for badminton at the J.V. Washam Recreation Center.
