Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics will host the Run TOO Overcome 5K March 6. The 5K run/walk will start at 8 a.m.; the Kids Fun Run will start at 9 a.m.
The event raises money for participating schools' exceptional children departments. An exceptional child is one with developmental delays in speech/language, sensory processing, motor skills, social skills, academics and self-help skills. EC includes children with autism, Down syndrome or any of dozens of other disabilities and disorders that hinder learning.
Davidson Elementary PTA-TOO, a PTA group for parents of special-needs kids, started the event in 2009 under the leadership of Robin Kruse.
Registration is $25 for the 5K run/walk and $15 for the Kids Fun Run. For those who want an event T-shirt, the organization asks for a $20 donation. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools staff may register for the event for just $20. Registration on race day is $30.
