A team from Mooresville High School has reached the state finals of the mock-trial competition sponsored by the N.C. Advocates for Justice Foundation.
The team advanced after winning the regionals Feb. 20, which involved 12 Charlotte area teams.
Mooresville defeated teams from Lake Norman High in the first two rounds. In the final round, Mooresville defeated last year's national runner-up, Victory Christian Center School of Charlotte.
Mooresville will compete March 19-20 in Raleigh against winners from five other N.C. regions. Mooresville will be making its second trip to the state finals in three years.
Never miss a local story.
Team members are seniors Jordan Davis, Elise Hauser, Troy Homesley, Megan Rabuck, Rebecca Sliney, Anthony Vitanza and Jacob Morse and sophomores Lane Ferrell, Brad Johnson and Ryan Rocklein.
The Mooresville law firm Homesley, Goodman & Wingo sponsors the team. The annual competition is in its 18th year.
