Youth Council: Concord is accepting applications for the Youth Council for the 2010-11 school year. Rising ninth- to 11th-graders can apply for the Council, which coordinates educational, social, recreational and service projects and acts as a liaison between city officials and youths. Support group: United Family Services of Cabarrus County will host a meeting for adult female survivors of rape, sexual assault and child sexual assault. Help for Haiti: Cannon School raised more than $10,000 for American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti through the school's "Hockey for Haiti" campaign with the Charlotte Checkers hockey team. Students sold tickets to the Checkers' March 11 game and collected cash donations, as well as 300 items to ship to Haiti.
Scholarship: Three Cabarrus County students were awarded the Park Scholarship from N.C. State University. Jonathan Everette Fox , a student at Concord High ; Alyssa Sharon D'Addezio, a student at Northwest Cabarrus ; and Rebecca Lauryn Love, a student at Mount Pleasant High received the scholarship, which covers the full cost of education, enrichment activities and more.
