Cory and Krystal Wages strolled through Memorial Garden in downtown Concord last week, stopping to point out blossoming flowers to their 9-month-old son Ayden and take photos under a blooming tree.
Area residents took to local parks and gardens to enjoy the early days of spring that marked the end of an unusually harsh winter season.
Flowers began blooming recently in Memorial Garden, located on Spring Street Southwest. The historic cemetery and garden is maintained by First Presbyterian Church, which was founded in 1804.
The garden's tulips are expected to bloom around the first two weeks of April. Memorial Garden is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-5:30 p.m. Sundays. Details: 704-786-8009 or www.firstpresconcord.com.
