Beverly Hills Elementary
Fire safety: Beverly Hills Elementary School's team placed first in the Cabarrus County Fire and Life Safety Quiz Bowl for the second year in a row. Local firefighters and emergency personnel sponsor The Cabarrus County Fire and Life Safety Quiz Bowl to allow students in Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools the chance to learn about fire and life safety. The team practiced after school on Wednesdays to prepare for the competition under the direction of Crystal Turney, technology specialist.
Beverly Hills will receive a $500 cash prize. The team participates in the state finals in April with runners up Rocky River and W.R. Odell Elementary Schools.

Teacher of the Year: Kim Livengood has been chosen Concord High School Teacher of the Year. She's a finalist for Cabarrus County Teacher of the Year.
Central Cabarrus High
Teacher of the Year: Susan Parker has been chosen the Central Cabarrus High School Teacher of the Year. She's a finalist for Cabarrus County Teacher of the Year.
Concord Middle School
Book battle: The school's team placed first in the Cabarrus County Middle School Battle of the Books competition. This is the school's third time winning the competition in the past five years.
Seven Cabarrus County schools competed March 19 at McGill Baptist Church. The team competes on the regional level in April.
Cox Mill High
Bricks for boosters: The Athletic Booster Club is organizing the sale of personalized bricks, with up to four lines of letters and symbols. Bricks will be placed in the Pride Path inside Chargers Stadium. Proceeds will fund capital improvements as well as a student-athlete scholarship.

Enrich home schooling support group
Class materials sale: The Concord home-schooled group, Enrich, is holding its second annual used curriculum sale 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on May 7 at Frank Liske Park in Concord.
The sale will be in middle shelters between the pond and the office. The group is charging no feel to sell your items, but you must contact the group if you want to reserve table space. Rain date: May 14. Details: firstname.lastname@example.org
Plant sale: The 2010 spring plant sale is from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. April 16 and 8 a.m.-noon on April 17 at the school's agriculture department. For details on plants and prices, visit www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/hrhs.
Northwest Cabarrus High
Important dates: Mark your calendars for important upcoming dates: Prom: May 8, Embassy Suites. Cost is $70 a ticket including dinner. Graduation: 4 p.m. June 12 Cabarrus Arena.
