Boys' Athlete of the Year: Jerrod Lipscomb, A.L. Brown
Jerrod Lipscomb, the 2010 SPC runner of the year, finished second in the state in the 300-meter hurdles while taking 3rd-place in the 110-meter hurdles. Lipscomb also anchored the 200-relay squad to a fourth-place finish at the state meet.
Lipscomb won the 300 hurdles at the 3A Midwest Regional and finished second in both the 110 and 4 X 200 relay events at regionals.
Boys' Coach of the Year: Noah Lyon, A.L. Brown
After coming just short of a regional and state title last season, A.L. Brown coach Noah Lyon came into the season hoping to reach both milestones in the 2010. While he didn't get a state title this time, Lyon guided the Wonders to a 3A Midwest Regional title after finishing second in 2008 and 2009. The Wonders also won the SPC crown in the first year of the all-Cabarrus County league.

Edwardo Navarro, Robinson: 800 meters - third at regionals, 12th at states.
Braedon Koerwitz, Robinson: 1,600 and 3,200 meters - regional champion in mile. Had two top-10 finishes at states.

Tavis Bailey, A.L. Brown: Discus - state champion set a new state record at 185 feet 1 inch. Alex Blackman, Northwest Cabarrus: Pole vault - sophomore has a bright future.
Girls' Athlete of the Year: Erin Tucker, Robinson
Erin Tucker won her first state championship in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a new state record 14.54-second time. But Tucker also finished 5th in the 100 meters, seventh in the 200 meters and anchored the 400-meter relay team to a 10th-place finish at the state meet.
Girls' Coach of the Year: Brian Landis, A.L. Brown
Brian Landis is used to winning championships. This year, the Wonder girls' track and cross-country coach added another award to his trophy case as Landis guided A.L. Brown's girls' track team to another SPC title. Landis' squad also finished fourth at the Midwest Regional and 22nd in the state meet in Greensboro.

Erin Tucker, Robinson: 100-, 200-meters and 100-meter hurdles - won regionals in all three events, finished fifth and seventh in the 100- and 200-meters at states and won the 100-meter hurdles title with a new state record.
Chekirra Holt, Robinson: 400 meters - junior finished fourth at regionals.
Taryn Stern, Hickory Ridge: 800 meters - state champion by more than two seconds.
Gesa Amelung, Mount Pleasant: 1,600 meters - ninth place finish at the regionals.
Sierra Hagl, Northwest Cabarrus: 3,200 meters - regional winner also 10th at states.
Juanito Leto, Concord: 300-meter hurdles - junior jumper finished second at states.
Candra Mathis, Hickory Ridge: Long jump, triple jump - SPC field athlete of the year, finished fifth at states in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
Keona Artis, A.L. Brown: High jump - finished seventh at states.
Tylivia Blackwelder, Raven Covington, Willie Rice and Derra Cowan, A.L. Brown: 100-meter relay - finished 5th at states.
