One of America's most famous physicians will appear in Mooresville on July 7 to raise money for a free health care clinic for low-income residents who lack health insurance.
Dr. Mehmet Oz of the daily syndicated TV program, "The Dr. Oz Show," will discuss health and wellness issues at 1:30 p.m. at the Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N. Main St.
Oz, who will visit for the second straight year, is returning to town with longtime friend John Mack, a Mooresville native and chairman of New York-based Morgan Stanley & Co.
Mack and his wife, Christy, are helping underwrite the cost of Oz's trip so all proceeds from his talk can benefit HealthReach Community Clinic, said Cindy Davenport, the clinic's development director. Platinum sponsor of the event is Columbia University Medical Center Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery Division.
"The litmus test of a society is how we take care of our least," Oz told 350 devotees during his May 2009 appearance at the Citizen Center.
Tickets to his July 7 appearance are $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
Guests donating at least $200 per ticket to the clinic will receive preferred seating and be invited to a private reception with Dr. Oz after his talk. All donations are tax-deductible.
