Cydney Clanton, a Concord native, will be one of 156 players from across the nation who will play in the 110th U.S. Women's Amateur Tournament starting Aug. 9 at Charlotte Country Club.
Clanton was exempt from qualifying after winning two matches at the Curtis Cup in June, when she helped the American team win its seventh consecutive cup.
Clanton, a rising senior at Auburn University, advanced to the third round of last year's tournament before falling to the eventual champion, Jennifer Song.
The 21-year-old Concord High graduate had a noteworthy season as a Tiger, being named All-SEC and a NGCA first-team All-American. She finished the 2009-10 season with a school-record 71.45 stroke average.
Admission to the tournament will be free.
