The Davidson Parks and Recreation Department is offering an action-oriented life coaching group that will support, inspire and monitor selected goal achievements with busy moms.
Women wanting to start a business, organize their lives, stick to a fitness program, go back to work or change their thought patterns will be supported by a trained life coach. Classes are 10:30-11:30 a.m. Fridays, Nov. 5-Dec. 16, and cost $78. For more information, contact Colleen Whalen at 704-892-3349 or email@example.com.
World of Wonder
Parents and children can explore, discover and enjoy nature together in World of Wonder, a program sponsored by the Davidson Lands Conservancy and Woodland Discovery.
WOW will consist of activities and nature information for all ages at the Davidson Farmer's Market and other nature outings. These free events are open to all and require adult accompaniment.
Activities at the Davidson Farmer's Market include making your own spiders on Oct. 16 and creating pictures with leaves on Nov. 6. Those activities are 10:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Some nature outings will involve the whole family; others will have age limits to ensure children's safety.
One off-site outing coming up soon is "Where Do Spiders Hide?" from 10 to 11:45 a.m., also on Oct. 16. This free outing is led by David Grant, professor emeritus of biology at Davidson College, a consultant with Discovery Place and adjunct curator at the Schiele Museum.
Children must be age 4 or older to attend "Where Do Spiders Hide?" and must be accompanied by an adult. The group is limited to 16 people. It will leave the Davidson Farmer's Market and carpool to Irwin Lodge; maps will be provided. Wear sturdy shoes with socks; consider wearing long sleeves and long pants. The group will be on and off trails in open woodland.
Registration forms for "Where Do Spiders Hide?" are at the Farmer's Market, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit www.woodlandsdiscovery.org. Return forms to the WOW booth at the Farmer's Market or send them to email@example.com before the Wednesday before the program.
