February is Black History Month, and the Cornelius PARC Department has programs for the entire community.
"The Dream of Pearl Fryar," at the Cornelius Arts Center until Feb. 25, has photographs of Fryar's topiary garden and several abstract sculptures.
CARS (Cultural Arts Reaching Seniors), for those age 55 and older, will visit Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church Feb. 23 for an arts program focused on African American artists.
Drop-In Art at the Cornelius Arts Center, 10 a.m.-noon on Saturdays in February, is for parents and children to work on art centered on African American artists. Register at the door and pay by the hour: $8 for the first hour and $4 for the additional second hour.

Andrea Stinson Basketball Clinic, 2-2:45 p.m., Feb. 26, Bailey Road Recreation Center. Stinson, a Cornelius native and former WNBA star, ranks third on N.C. State University's all-time women's basketball scoring list and was the first player on the WNBA's Charlotte Sting to have her jersey retired. The clinic is free for boys and girls ages 7-17. Or come and meet Stinson starting at 1 p.m. before the clinic.

Special Olympics meeting
Cornelius and Huntersville have established a partnership between their special-needs programs and Mecklenburg County Special Olympics. Team and individual sports will be offered in the north Mecklenburg area this spring and summer.

Cornelius-based Aquesta Bank announced positive earnings for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the year ended Dec. 31.
Aquesta also began construction on its newest branch, on Brawley School Road in Mooresville. Anticipated opening is the second quarter of 2011.
