Cabarrus CARES/Kitty City
Fundraiser: Cabarrus CARES' project Kitty City is hosting its Lucky in Love fundraising night 6:30-9 p.m. Feb. 11 at Hotel Concord, 14 Union St. N., Concord. The night will feature live music, hors d'oeuvres by Union St. Bistro, a silent auction and a wine bar. Proceeds will benefit the organization which rescues cats and educates the public in pet care. Wings of Eagles
Volunteers needed: Wings of Eagles Therapeutic Riding Center is in need of volunteers for the spring riding session, which begins March 28 and goes through May 19. The non-profit organization helps meet the needs of children and adults with special needs through horseback riding, low ropes, climbing wall and zip line. There will be a volunteer training session on March 4 and March 11 from 6-9 p.m. Only one session of training is required. Sessions will be held at the ranch: 4800 Faith Trails Road, Concord. Expo: The Cooperative will have an expo 4-7 p.m. Feb. 15 at All Saint Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 525 Lake Concord Road. See how your support affects families and how you can get involved. The expo includes the CCM annual meeting, presentation, and a tour of ministry programs.

Department of Social Services
Extended hours: The Cabarrus County DSS will begin extended hours to provide convenience to working families. The offices will be open the first and third Tuesday of each month, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., on a trial basis. The extended hours are dedicated solely to residents who need to apply for assistance.
