You may not have the talent or courage to perform on a reality-TV dance show.

But you and your family can still show off your fancy dance moves and maybe win money, not only for yourself but also for the Levine Children's Hospital.

Through their second annual Family Dance-Off national video contest, the Primrose Schools will donate $65,000 to the Children's Miracle Network hospitals in the hometowns of three winning families.

If a Charlotte family wins, Levine Children's Hospital could receive as much as $30,000.

The grand prize-winning family will receive a $5,000 check and a $30,000 donation to their local Children's Miracle Network hospital; the second prize winner, $3,000 and a $20,000 donation; and the third prize winner, $1,500 and a $15,000 donation.

To enter, go to www.FamilyDanceoff.com by March 19 and upload a 30-second video of your family dancing.

Each week, two families will win, based on the online votes their videos attract. During the week of March 20-26, 14 finalist families will compete against each other.

Judges will choose the winners based on voting during finalist week, as well as creativity, originality and humor.

Primrose Schools present this program to work together to fight childhood obesity and to encourage having family fun.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national childhood obesity rate has tripled in the last 30 years. North Carolina's rate is 11th highest in the nation.

Dr. Mary Zurn, vice president of education for Primrose Schools, said, "Dancing is a fun, easy way for families to fight the risk of obesity, enjoy physical activity and spend quality time together...(Dance) builds their self-confidence and promotes social, emotional and motor development."

Tips to get your family to start dancing include picking music with a good beat, choreographing a dance routine with your children and paying attention to fundamental motor skills.
