Modern Family Dental Care will celebrate its grand opening 9 a.m. March 31 on Pit Stop Court, across from Concord Mills mall in Concord.
Initially the practice will employ three full-time and two part-time workers. It represents Dr. Taj Haynes' first small-business ownership.
Haynes' new office, he said, exceeds OSHA and American Dental Association regulations and standard practices and has a state-of-the-art sterilization room where every instrument will be disinfected.
Haynes, of Huntersville, has practiced dental care in the area for more than two years. He has a bachelor's degree from Santa Clara University and a doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine.
To make visits as stress-free as possible, Modern's reception area features an Internet café with computers, Wi-Fi and an espresso maker. Children can relax before their visit by playing video games on Wii and Xbox game systems.
Haynes said he tried to make the office feel more like a home than a dentist office by including flat-panel televisions, hardwood floors and a different city theme (New York, Paris and others) in each examination room.
