Sgt. 1st Class Donnie Shue came home to Cabarrus County last weekend, honored by more than a thousand motorcyclists, an Army honor guard and grateful residents lining the streets.
The multiple medalist, a member of the 5th Special Forces Group ("Green Berets"), was killed in Laos during the "secret war" in 1969, but his remains were missing for 42 years.
Two years ago, a farmer found his remains with Shue's Zippo lighter, engraved with his name. They were confirmed after a DNA comparison with a relative.
