Cabarrus County Schools
Teacher of the Year: The Cabarrus County Board of Education recognized Janelle Patterson as Teacher of the Year.
Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month: Michelle King, Harrisburg Elementary (April) and Karen Robinson, Mount Pleasant High (May).
Graduation: Covenant Classical seniors graduated May 21. Kody Wilkins received the David Drye Award and senior Lindsey Jones received the Ann Drye Award. Both awards are given to seniors who represent the characteristics of the school's founders, David and Ann Drye. The class was also the first group of seniors who completed all years of attendance at Covenant Classical, Kindergarten through 12. John Mark Daring, Elizabeth Hartsock and Lindsey Jones received the Heritage Award, the school's first ever.
Central Cabarrus High
Football meeting: Prospective football players and parents are invited to an annual summer kickoff to learn about summer workouts and the upcoming season and receive player handbooks. Captains will also be introduced. Meet in the Central Cabarrus High cafeteria, pizza will be provided. 6:30 p.m. May 27.
Concord High School
Awards Day: 8a.m. May25 in the gym.
Cox Mill High
Band recognition: Members of the Cox Mill Band competed in solo and ensemble May 7. Of the 24 registered events, the band earned a superior rating for 21 of the events and an excellent rating for the other three events.
