Concord’s Charlotte Motor Speedway has kicked off its annual Speedway Christmas, an event ranked in the Top 20 by the Southeast Tourism Society.
Guests visiting the light show can drive the 3.1-mile park, taking in more than 800 holiday displays and 3 million twinkling lights.
An added bonus is the chance to drive on the famed frontstretch of the speedway’s track to view the additional 200,000 feet of lights set up in the grandstands, according to speedway officials.
Included in the cost per ticket is a visit to the Christmas Village, set up in the track’s infield. The village includes carriage and camel rides, hot cocoa, marshmallow roasting and visits with Santa.
Speedway Christmas is open 6-10 p.m. through Dec. 30 and is closed on Christmas Day.
Every Friday and Saturday during the light show, the speedway feature classic holiday movies on a gigantic screen for guests to enjoy, drive-in-movie style.
