Today is the last day this year for North Carolina's annual sales tax holiday, and SouthPark mall will have extended hours for shoppers.
The tax holiday applies to certain items purchased in preparation for returning to school including clothing, books, computers and dorm-room supplies. The sales tax is 7.25 percent in Mecklenburg County.
SouthPark is open noon until 7 p.m. today; Eastland Mall will have regular hours, 12:30-6 p.m..

Marshall's is expected to open Thursday at the Metropolitan development on Kings Drive and Kenilworth Avenue.
The store is among several major tenants expected to open there by the end of the year.
Upcoming stores include Trader Joe's, West Elm and Modern Salon & Spa.
A Myers Park women's clothing store, Fresh Boutique, 813 Providence Road, is adding more accessories to its inventory. The new lines include Kooba and Juicy Couture handbags as well as CC Skye jewelry.
Kooba features soft leather handbags with prominent hardware and bold colors. Juicy Couture handbags feature a fun, breezy style. CC Skye jewelry features layered gold pieces.
Goodwill's South Boulevard store will celebrate its 15-year anniversary Friday, and merchandise will be discounted by 30 percent all day.
The store will also hold special events 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the first 250 shoppers who make a purchase will receive free ice cream. KISS 95.1 FM will be at the store 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and shoppers will have the chance to win door prizes that area businesses have donated.
The South Boulevard store sells men's and women's clothing, electronics, toys, housewares, furniture and home accessories.
Goodwill is a non-profit; store proceeds go toward Goodwill's employment and job training services.
