An East Charlotte resident is among seven women to be featured in a national magazine campaign honoring women who have had an “extraordinary impact” on their communities.
Nancy Hudson, executive director of the Charlotte Community Health Clinic, is one of the winners of Nabisco's “Celebrating 100 Extraordinary Women” contest. She will be featured this month in a two-page ad running in People, Entertainment Weekly, In Style, Real Simple, Cooking Light and Health magazines.
Hudson was chosen from among thousands of contest entries for her work with Charlotte Community Health, which she helped found in 2001. Located on Eastway Drive, the free clinic is Mecklenburg County's largest, with 280 volunteers providing medical services to low-income, uninsured residents.
“I am grateful to the many community volunteers, donors and staff members who help keep it going day after day,” Hudson said in a statement. “They are, to me, also extraordinary in their own ways, and I'm honored to share this award with them.”
