There will be several good reasons to visit Uptown this week, but with the activity comes traffic slowdowns.
The Charlotte Bobcats have two home games this week at 7 p.m. On Monday, the Bobcats meet the Detroit Pistons. On Friday, the New Orleans Hornets return to their native territory in search of a victory.
Staging begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday for the annual Veterans Day Parade. Streets will be blocked near 10th and N. Tryon streets.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and proceed on Tryon to Third Street, finishing at Marshall Park.

Elsewhere uptown, South Church Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and First Street is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday.
Caldwell Street will be reduced to one lane between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Trade Street until 6 a.m. Nov. 18.
Two lanes of Fifth Street between Caldwell and Davidson streets remain closed until Nov. 22. Local access to businesses will be maintained.
In northeast Charlotte, the intersection of Squirrel Hill Road and Log Cabin Road is scheduled to reopen today.
On the west side, only one lane of Airport Drive will be open in each direction south of Morris Field Drive through Nov. 14 as work continues on a water main.
To detour, take Billy Graham Parkway to Morris Field Drive to Airport Drive. CATS bus service will be affected.
