Several Gaston County schools will hold open houses in the coming weeks.
The schedule includes:
Cramerton Middle: Open House for grades 7-8, 6 p.m. Sept. 8.

W.C. Friday Middle: PTO meeting, 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 8.
New Hope Elementary: Grades K-2 Open House, 5:30-6:10 p.m. Sept. 10; Grades 3-5 Open House, 6:30-7:10 p.m. Sept. 10.
Mount Holly Middle: Open House, 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
Belmont Middle: Open House, 6 p.m. Sept. 15.
Catawba Heights: Open House, 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
McAdenville Elementary: Dinner, 6 p.m. and Open House, 7-7:45 p.m. Sept. 17.
Tryon Elementary: Open House, 6 p.m. Sept. 21.
South Point High School recently announced its PTA officers for the 2009-10 academic year.
The officers are Selina Pate, president; Melinda Russell, vice president; Sue Holder, secretary; and Lisa Ashworth, treasurer.
East Gaston High School will host a Thursday open house for parents to learn about academics and extracurricular activities.
From 5:30 to 6 p.m., parents can browse subject displays and learn about clubs their students may want to join.
A parent meeting with administrators and coaches will run from 6 to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
From 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., parents will follow their students' schedules and meet each teacher.
The Gaston County middle school football jamborees will be held Saturday at three area schools. All games start at 4:15 p.m.

Grier, Southwest, Bessemer City and Chavis at Bessemer City.
York Chester, Mount Holly, Holbrook and Belmont at Belmont.
Two Lincoln County students competed in the National High School Coaches Association open wrestling championships, held July 2-4 at the Virginia Beach, Va., Convention Center.
Jake Nelson of North Lincoln High and Gene Goodson of Lincolnton High earned All-American status by placing in the top eight of their weight divisions.
Goodson placed sixth in the 152-pound class; Nelson placed seventh in the 130-pound class.
Nearly 1,000 qualifying wrestlers from 25 states competed in four age divisions.
Two Lincoln County schools will hold open house events this month.
East Lincoln High: 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 8.
