Camp Invention: Mooresville Graded School District will offer Camp Invention again this summer July 13-17 at Rocky River Elementary School. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math camp is open to all rising first through sixth-graders in the district. Coddle Creek Elementary
Boys’ bowling event: The school’s inaugural mother/son bowling event will be held 2-5 p.m. March 22 at George Pappas Victory Lanes, 125 Morlake Drive, Mooresville. The event is open to Coddle Creek Elementary boys and their mothers, aunts, grandmothers or other “best gals.” A meet-and-greet event will be held in the restaurant area followed by a buffet with pizza, pasta, mini-corndogs, fries and soda. The event also includes unlimited bowling and shoe rental, billiards, a tour of the pinsetters and a souvenir group photo. Tickets are $15 per person. Reverse raffle: A reverse raffle benefitting the Brawley Middle School Fine Arts Department will be held at 5:30 p.m. April 30 in the cafeteria. Doors open at 5 p.m. The last ticket pulled out wins first prize of a $500 Visa gift card. Tickets are $10 each and are available from any Brawley fine arts teacher or student. Each ticket admits one to Brawley’s Night of the Arts event. Only 300 tickets will be sold.
Winter formal: The winter formal dance for eighth-graders will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 13 in the gymnasium. Admission is $8. Food and drinks will be for sale. The event will also include a professional DJ and a light show. A photo booth will be available, with photos for $5 each.
PTSO meeting: 9 a.m. March 13 at the school
Community Night: 5-8 p.m. March 17, Five Guys, 654 River Highway, Mooresville. Regular Community Night events at local restaurants offer a chance to dine out together while raising money for the school. Students who attend and can show a receipt for a meal purchased will receive a dress code pass for March 18 to wear Iredell-Statesville Schools-approved clothing to school. All students must be accompanied by an adult.
Lake Norman High
Run to Honor 5K: The Lake Norman High School Student Council, National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America will sponsor the inaugural Lake Norman Run to Honor 5K and Half-Mile Fun Run on March 28 at the school. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer Society. Registration is $20 per person or $40 for a family, T-shirts included. Registration is available March 12-25 during SmartLunch in the commons at the school. Online registration is also available. Mount Mourne IB Middle
Spirit Night: 5-8 p.m. March 19, Moe’s Southwest Grill, 465 River Highway, Mooresville, behind Verizon and in front of the Hobby Lobby. Moe’s will donate 20 percent of total purchases to the Mount Mourne PTSO for all diners who present the event flier when ordering. The flier is required for the school to receive a donation. Prom dress event: Free prom dresses will be available by appointment to high school girls during the Twice Upon a Dress event 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 27 at Troutman Baptist Church, 305 Perry Road, Troutman.
